Manhattan’s Physician Group in New York, NY has demonstrated its
commitment to patient safety by gaining accreditation from The
American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities
(AAAASF), recognized nationally as the “Gold Standard” in accreditation.
Dr. Steven Finkelstein, leader of MPG’s Gastroenterology Department, was
instrumental in managing the accreditation process for Manhattan’s
Physician Group Upper East Side Endoscopy Center. “This was truly a team
effort from everyone at the 95th Street office,” said Dr.
Finkelstein. He went on to note, “This accreditation demonstrates to our
patients and the public our commitment to patient healthcare and safety.”
With colorectal cancer the second leading cause of cancer death in New

blood and medication, medical records, quality assessment/improvement,
personnel, governance, operating room, recovery room, and anesthesia.
The end result is that the accredited facility makes a commitment toward
maintaining safety and quality in the ambulatory surgery facility. As
