Vormetric Webinar to Address HITECH Act Data Security and Compliance Challenges

Vormetric:

What:

In the upcoming October 21st Webinar “The Impact of the

HITECH Act on HIPAA Compliance and Data Security: Clear

Information Direct from the Legal Experts," Vormetric will be

hosting a presentation with data security and HIPAA privacy legal

experts from Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP to help businesses

gain clear information on security and privacy impacts of the

HITECH Act.

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health

(HITECH) Act has rapidly changed the way that healthcare payers,

providers and their business partners need to approach data

security. With data breach notification requirements for unprotected

data already in effect, organizations need to obtain credible

information on how this law affects their business data and

compliance programs. A significant measure in the HITECH Act

requires healthcare businesses to use encryption or destruction

measures to prevent disclosure of protected health information

(PHI), and a duty to notify via media channels, if this requirement

is not satisfied.

Topics to be covered include:

Explanation of the HITECH Act Data Breach Notification and Safe

Harbor Requirements

How the HITECH Act impacts your HIPAA compliance program

What business partners need to know about HIPAA security and privacy

compliance

Encryption requirements for safe harbor

FTC requirements for data breach notification

When:

October 21, 2009 at

11:00 am PST / 2:00 p.m. EST
