Companies engaged in provisioning, supplying and using Dark Fibre
internationally, will meet in London 5-6 November, at the annual Dark
Fibre Convention (www.darkfibreconvention.com)
The international convention will assess a wide range of issues
including the increased deployment occurring at metro, access, rural and
national level and funding mechanisms. The event will also act as a
forum for recommendations and regulatory changes that the industry sees
as necessary, assess investment is a core theme and the perspective of
Dark Fibre as an asset, and its ROI, review the Dark Fibre cost stack
and its impact on pricing strategies, and look in detail at customer
segments, and geographic areas offering new growth opportunities
including central and eastern Europe, Balkans and Turkey and Africa.
The forum also features a special pre-conference workshop assessing the
essentials of Dark Fibre on 4th November.
Industry support for a Dark Fibre networking hub has grown over the past
two years, where companies and users engaged in this very focused sector
can meet and hear directly from senior representatives and thought
leaders.
The event will provide a content rich programme designed to deliver
insight into growth occurring in the sector with original research
presentations, top level case studies from CxOs, VPs and Directors, and
open the opportunity for attendees to have access to a wide range of
national and international networking opportunities.
BroadGroup research has revealed an increased emphasis on the importance
of dark fibre as the Internet confronts overload events, particularly
with the exponential increase in video downloads.
“The supply side remains limited in many areas,” commented Philip Low,
managing director at BroadGroup. “It is therefore encouraging that
market entry by innovative new players continues to demonstrate vigour
in this specialised sector. Combined with significant growth forecasts
for emerging markets and new technological solutions, the argument for
investment in dark fibre is extremely convincing. The 2nd
Dark Fibre Convention will bring together all the stakeholders involved
in defining this sustained market opportunity.”
A raft of speakers including leadership in companies currently deploying
new networks will be included in the programme. The event will be held
at the America Square Conference Centre in London. For further
